French GCE AS/A level (from 2016)
We have developed a reformed GCE AS/A level French specification, approved by Qualifications Wales, for teaching from 2016. These qualifications meets regulatory requirements in Wales.

The window of assessment runs from 1 April 2020 to 15 May 2020 not 23 March to 8 May 2020 as previously cited. The online Examination Timetables and Internal Assessment Deadlines document has been updated and is available here.

Spelling Reforms in French
WJEC examining teams are aware of the new spelling reforms in French and would like to reassure teachers and candidates that both the new and existing French language spelling conventions will be accepted in candidates' written work.
WJEC examining teams will use the new spelling conventions when writing the reformed GCSE, AS and A level French examinations, for first assessment in 2017 (AS) and 2018 (GCSE and A level); however, we do not expect to amend spelling in extracts from authentic sources.
