Criminology Level 3 (from 2015)

New tasks and briefs for Unit 1 2019-20 are now available on the secure website. All briefs contain full guidance for assessors and updated mark sheets. Unit 3 tasks and briefs for 2019-20 remain unchanged. Fully updated guidance for the Criminology course is now available in our new FAQs document.

We are pleased to announce that our Level 3 Criminology qualification has been approved by Ofqual and Welsh Government. This qualification is available for teaching in England and Wales from September 2015 (first accreditation summer 2017).

The qualification carries UCAS points and appears on the UCAS Tariff Calculator. It has also been confirmed by DfE that the Level 3 Criminology qualification will be included on the 2018 performance tables.

We continue to work with teachers and subject specialists to develop valuable resources which will help you to create engaging lessons for your students.

-       WJEC Level 3 Certificate in Criminology (QAN 601/6249/1)

-       WJEC Level 3 Diploma in Criminology (QAN 601/6248/X)

Internal Assessment Mark Input System

Please note that the marks for the internal assessments/controlled assessments are to be submitted via the Internal Assessment Mark Input System (IAMIS) on the secure website. The work should be dispatched to moderators by the 15th May. For further information, please refer to the Internal Assessment Manual.

Update July 2019: We are aware that DfE has announced the withdrawal of funding for qualifications where a redeveloped version of the qualification has been approved. This announcement relates to the legacy (QCF) versions of our Level 3 Criminology and Food Science and Nutrition qualifications. The current specifications remain available to centres and are Approved for inclusion in school performance tables for 2021 and 2022.
